The mystique of Route 66 has always intrigued us and in June we said lets take a trip on the Mother Road. We left June 2 from Mesquite, Texas taking I-75 and Route 69 all the way to Baxter, Kansas. Baxter is where we started our legendary Route 66. Over the next three days we saw some of the country’s most archetypal roadside scenes and visited wonderful old trading posts, filling stations, motels, tourist traps, diners and villages. We strolled through villages which haven't changed since they were bypassed by the interstate highway decades ago and sampled some real American hamburgers. At the midpoint of our trip we stopped and spent hours at the famous Route 66 Museum -  this is a must see!! On the last day, we detoured down below Amarillo through the Palo Duro and Caprock Canyons towards the Dallas/Mesquite area.

Below is a general map of the sections of Route 66 we toured - for some of our photos, click on the camera icons.

We would highly recommend this trip to anybody that wants to take a trip down memory lane. Get your kicks on Route 66!

We will be adding many more photos as time allows.
